Between 2025 and 2026, a chromatic evolution will solidify within the home: the neutral base (whites, creams, and beiges) remains essential, but is enriched with deep earth tones. The shift focuses on incorporating dark greens, browns, and terracotta as key elements in furniture and decor.

The trend towards warm and organic tones

Specialized publications agree in highlighting the rise of earthy palettes for 2025. The reinvention of cool beige towards warmer tones —such as the “caramel-cinnamon brown” popularized by Dakota Johnson— creates an enveloping and sophisticated atmosphere.

The role of the greens and browns
• Dark greens (moss, olive, pine): a symbol of natural connection, harmony, and serenity. They combine perfectly with light woods and warm metals like brass.
• Truffle and chocolate brown: brown is no longer considered “old-fashioned” and is back as the new neutral background color. Deep, elegant, and adaptable, it serves as both a base and an accent for key pieces.

Terracotta reinvented

The terracotta range returns in darker, more rustic, and sophisticated versions, such as "rich rust" or "dusty terracotta," in furniture and wall coverings. Mediterranean inspiration and artisanal naturalness combine with modern design elements.

Why are these shades so popular?
1. Connection with nature: tones inspired by earth, forest and stone evoke emotional calm and well-being.
2. Visual versatility: Dark brown and green work as an excellent base for integrating touches of color—such as jewel or soft reds in cushions—while maintaining coherence.
3. Balance between tradition and contemporaneity: these colors are perceived as timeless, without sacrificing current design.

How to apply them at home?

• Bed linen in warm beige and cushions in oxidized terracotta.
• Table lamps in brown ceramic.

Dining room and kitchen
• Chairs or benches upholstered in deep terracotta.
• Sideboard in dark wood with touches of olive green or brass fittings.
• Decorative tiles in warm tones: terracotta or matte brown.

Bathrooms and nooks
• Dark brown wall (color-drenching chic).
• Accessories (towels, soap dishes) in smoke green and terracotta.
• Natural plants to accentuate the natural palette.

Conclusion

The new interior design trends for 2025–2026 go beyond neutrality, embracing dark greens, deep browns, and dark terracotta to bring character, warmth, and a connection to nature into the home. These tones act as a sophisticated canvas, allowing for vibrant color pieces without sacrificing harmony.
